The “I Do” Interview: Meet Qiana & Matthew

Welcome to this month’s installment of the “I Do” Interviews! This month, our wedding series features Qiana and Matthew, who said their vows in September 2025. They chose to celebrate their ceremony at the Pergola and to host their reception in the Terrace and Waterfront Ballrooms, with their friends and family.

This interview series is meant to give future couples a chance to hear the wonderful details of recent wedding experiences from those who have been there. Our lovely couples have agreed to share their stories so others can learn everything about their one-of-a-kind wedding and the planning process.

Responses have been edited for length and clarity.

Qiana and Matthew

When did you get married?

September 2025

How did you meet?

We met in high school. I was a senior, and he was a junior. We ran track together, and I knew he was very kind, but I didn’t know him super well. My class’s semi-formal dance was quickly approaching and asking him to attend with me would be a great way to get to know him. We had a blast, and went to prom together too. We had a lot in common, and started dating shortly after my graduation.

Why Danversport?

We immediately fell in love with the elaborate gardens and pergola overlooking the Danversport marina. It was a perfect backdrop that fulfilled our vision for the ceremony. Then learning about everything that’s included in Danversport’s wedding packages sealed the deal. It made wedding planning straightforward and worry-free!

Describe your wedding in 10 words or fewer!

A multicultural celebration that incorporated Italian and Chinese traditions and symbolism.

Qiana and MatthewTell us the most memorable moment of the day.

We had a Chinese Lion Dance Troupe perform during dinner. The performers were interactive with all the guests, and the lions made for great photo opportunities! It was definitely a memorable event amongst ourselves and our guests.

What’s a standout thing our team at Danversport did during your wedding day that you’ll never forget?

We had so many elaborate decorations and details that were very important to our special day. We were very impressed with our coordinator, Christine, and her team, who nailed every single detail we described to her. They made great recommendations and executed our plan perfectly. It was clear that they were experts and knew exactly what would be best for what we had envisioned.

What about Danversport wow-ed your guests the most?

The food was so amazing! All of our guests raved about the variety of options and how delicious everything was. The staff was super accommodating and made sure every guest was attended to, ensuring everyone was happy.

What menu items or cocktails were crowd favorites?

The Spritz Station was a big hit. My husband is Italian, and we wanted to incorporate Italian cultural elements when possible. Even though limoncello spritzes were not in the original package, Danversport was more than obliging and added that to the already numerous options available.

Did you have a theme, color palette, or design inspiration for your wedding day?

Yes, the color palette was red and gold to match conventional Chinese cultural tradition.

Did you do a first look, or wait for the aisle?

We did a first look at the pergola. It was so meaningful that we were able to share a special moment before the ceremony.

What’s one piece of advice you’d share with couples planning their wedding at Danversport?

The advice we would give would be “Don’t stress.” There were so many details I worried about leading up to the big day, but Danversport’s team of wedding professionals and experts will have you covered! Everyone we worked with was kind, meticulous, and detail-oriented. They make sure no question is left unanswered and do their best to make sure everyone was happy.

Looking back, what’s the one thing you’re glad you did on your wedding day?

We are delighted that we did a first look. The day is so hectic, doing a first look let us take time just to enjoy ourselves and be grateful for everything that has led up to our special celebration.

Happily Ever After

Congratulations to Qiana and Matthew as you begin your married life together! We are thrilled to have been a part of your special day and traditions. We wish you much happiness in the years ahead.
