Welcome to this month’s installment of the “I Do” Interviews! This month our wedding series features a lovely and devoted couple, Eleni and Shane, who said their vows on a beautiful Autumn day in 2021. Eleni and Shane chose to celebrate their reception in the gorgeous Harborview Ballroom with almost 300 family members and friends as their guests.
This interview series is meant to give future couples a chance to hear the wonderful details of wedding experiences from those who have recently been there. Our lovely couples have agreed to share their stories so others can learn everything about their one-of-a-kind wedding and the planning process.
Eleni & Shane
Wedding Date: October 8, 2021
Wedding Venue: Harborview Ballroom
Where are you originally from? I’m from Peabody, Massachusetts, and Shane is from Fitchburg, Massachusetts.
What do you do for work?
I was working in the digital/web design space, but am currently working towards a career change into a mix of real estate and interior design. Shane is a sales account manager for a medical device company.
How did you meet?
We met the first week of freshman year at UMass through a mutual friend but began dating just before sophomore year.
What made you choose Danversport, and this venue/room specifically?
The gorgeous ballroom with the ocean view and that gorgeous chandelier made the decision for us. Plus, the amount of parking and ease of location – it all worked!

How many guests did you have in attendance roughly?
We have just about 290 friends and family at our wedding.
What did you offer for food/drink catering?
For the cocktail menu, we offered fall sangria, a deluxe open bar, and had our own signature cocktail created as well.
For starters and the main course options, we started with the deluxe hors d’oeuvres. Then we offered our guests either the prime rib or Statler chicken. We finished it all off with cheesecake for dessert. It was all delicious!

What was the most magical, moving, or special part of the wedding for you?
I think both my first dance with Shane and my dance with my father were very special to me. We are so lucky to have captured all the moments with our photographer, Freebird Photography.
Did you have a wedding theme?
We did not particularly have a theme, but we were going for a romantic/vintage vibe.
What type of style was your dress? I chose a ball gown for the amazing ballroom!
What was the song you danced to for your first dance?
We chose to dance our first dance to “Beauty and the Beast.” It was my favorite movie as a child and my mom had always told me it should be my wedding song, so it has a very sentimental place in my heart.
Who walked you down the aisle? My father, Tony
What are/were your plans for your honeymoon?
We spent two weeks in Greece – Athens, Mykonos, Paros, and Santorini. It was a dream!

Happy Ever After
Eleni and Shane fell in love while in college and chose to spend their wedding day at Danversport. We adore their story and are honored that we were able to be a part of their special day. Best wishes to this beautiful couple and may you have your ‘happily ever after.’
