Welcome to the latest installment of the “I Do” Interviews! This month our series features Jennifer and Patrick who held their micro-wedding with us this past fall. This uniquely awesome couple quickly became not only some of our favorite clients, but also our friends as we helped them plan the day of their dreams!
This wedding interview series is meant to give future couples a chance to hear the wonderful experiences from those who have recently been there. Our couples have agreed to share their stories so others can hear about everything from their one-of-a-kind wedding, to their incredible partner, at a picture-perfect venue.
DATE OF WEDDING: Saturday, October 10, 2020
WEDDING VENUE: The pergola for the outdoor ceremony and the Lighthouse Point
Where are you originally from? Lynn, MA
What do you do for work?
I (Jennifer) manage several restaurants at Logan Airport.
How did you meet your bride or groom?
I met Patrick while we were both managing at different bars/restaurants in the Back Bay area of Boston. We had several mutual friends, and became friendly over the years before we started dating.
What made you choose Danversport, and this venue/room specifically?
Due to Covid, and all of the restrictions, we had to reschedule our large wedding in Boston until next year. When it came time to decide whether or not to still go ahead with a ceremony, we started looking around, and Danversport was first to respond that our date was open. It is truly a special place for my entire family, as my parents, as well as my brother and sister-in-law, had their wedding receptions there…46 and 7 years ago respectively. Patrick and I made it a trifecta!!
How many guests did you have in attendance roughly?
We had about 20 in attendance. Due to Covid restrictions and guidelines, we kept the wedding to just our parents and wedding party.
What did you offer for food/drink catering?
Our guests enjoyed the finest Danversport had to offer! After the crudites and champagne, we dined on Filet Mignon (my mother-in-law is STILL raving about it), Chicken Piccata, and probably the most delicious cake I’ve ever had. It’s hard not to crack into the top that’s sitting in our freezer!
What was the most magical, moving or special part of the wedding for you?
To be perfectly honest, I was not looking forward to a “Covid Wedding” and being a “Covid Bride.” But when I tell you that our wedding day was the most perfect day, I am not lying. It was so incredibly intimate. Just our parents, immediate family, and wedding party…even the Band/DJ and Photographer are friends of ours. Everything from the weather (78 degrees and not a cloud in the sky!!!), to my beautiful nieces all dressed up having the time of their lives, to the food and music, (not) dancing, etc.. I could not have asked for a more perfect day.
Did you have a wedding theme?
Flowers and decorations were rustic. Fall colors.
What type of style was your dress?
Ivory Vera Wang. Light and flowy. Perfect for the summer day we ended up with!
What was the song you danced to for your first dance?
Lost in Your Eyes, by Debbie Gibson.
Who walked you down the aisle?
My father, Michael.
What are/were your plans for your honeymoon?
We spent a mini-moon on Nantucket, and plan on doing a big honeymoon sometime next year in Ireland!
Happily Ever After
Although Jennifer and Patrick had to shift gears and adjust their original wedding plans due to Covid-19, they ended up having the day that every couple dreams of…friends, family, fine food, and amazing weather to boot! Congratulations to Jennifer and Patrick. We look forward to seeing you and your family members celebrate your anniversaries in the place where it all started, Danversport.
