Welcome to the “I Do” Interviews! This month our series on the Brides of Danversport features Xanthi and Joseph who said their vows on a spectacular autumn day this year and celebrated with family and friends in the Harborview Ballroom at Danversport.
This bridal interview series is meant to give future brides a chance to hear the wonderful details of bridal experiences from those who have recently been there. Our beautiful brides have agreed to share their stories so others can hear about everything from their one-of-a-kind wedding, to their incredible partner, at a picture-perfect venue.
Xanthi and Joseph
MARRIED: October 12, 2019 in the Harborview Ballroom
WHERE ARE YOU ORIGINALLY FROM? I am originally from Danvers, Massachusetts.
WHAT DO YOU DO FOR WORK? I work as a clinical research specialist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in NYC.
HOW DID YOU MEET YOUR PARTNER? I met my groom my first weekend of college at a party. He was a sophomore and I was a freshman. I was brought to a rowing party and I noticed a handsome guy standing against the door. I slowly made my way over to him throughout the night and once we started talking we were inseparable and have been ever since.
WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE DANVERSPORT AND THE BALLROOM SPECIFICALLY? I grew up in Danvers and always dreamed of having my wedding in a ballroom, somewhere local. Danversport had the elegance I was looking for and my husband loves boating, so it also had the aspect of being at a yacht club which worked perfectly for us.
HOW MANY GUESTS WERE IN ATTENDANCE ROUGHLY? We had about 230 guests.

WHAT MENU DID YOU CHOOSE FOR CATERING? We had an open bar and a choice of prime rib or chicken piccata. Our specialty drinks were a dirty Shirley and the Gator Claw which is a drink my husband and I thought up mixing a margarita with a white claw seltzer.
WHAT WAS THE MOST MAGICAL MOMENT OF THE WEDDING FOR YOU? The most amazing part of the wedding was seeing my husband’s face at the end of the altar and the shared moments we had whether it was squeezing my hand or just giving me a smile.
DID YOU HAVE A WEDDING THEME OR WEDDING COORDINATOR? My theme was elegance and I incorporated touches of pearls. Pearls are really special to me and my husband because ever since we began dating 6 years ago he has gifted me with pearls.
WHAT STYLE WAS YOUR DRESS? My dress was an A line with lace and pearls along the bodice. It was a v neck sleeveless gown.
WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST DANCE SONG CHOICE? We danced to “From this Moment On” by Shania Twain.
WHO WALKED YOU DOWN THE AISLE? My father walked me down the aisle.
WHAT WERE YOUR PLANS FOR A HONEYMOON? We went to French Polynesia and stayed in Moorea and Bora Bora for a week. We then went to San Francisco and spent a week driving down the coast to San Diego.
HAPPILY EVER AFTER
Even after moving to NYC for work, this couple returned to Xanthi’s hometown of Danvers to celebrate their wedding with family and friends along the waterfront. The day could not have been more beautiful as they shared this special moment with everyone they love.
