The “I Do” Interviews: Meet Our January Bride, Celena

Welcome to the “I Do” Interviews! This month our series on the Brides of Danversport features Celena and Robbie who said their vows on a spectacular autumn day this year and celebrated with family and friends in the Grand Ballroom at Danversport.

This bridal interview series is meant to give future brides a chance to hear the wonderful details of bridal experiences from those who have recently been there. Our beautiful brides have agreed to share their stories so others can hear about their one-of-a-kind wedding, to their perfect partner, at a picture-perfect venue.

CELENA & ROBBIE

MARRIED September 21, 2019 in the Harborview Grand Ballroom

WHERE ARE YOU ORIGINALLY FROM?  I am originally from Woburn, Massachusetts.
WHAT DO YOU DO FOR WORK? I am a Recreational Therapist at Boston Children’s Hospital in Waltham.

HOW DID YOU MEET YOUR PARTNER? I met Robbie at the University of New Hampshire. He was actually a very close friend of my cousin and once we met… the rest was history!

WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE DANVERSPORT AND THE BALLROOM SPECIFICALLY? I have always dreamed of a classic white wedding with a touch of glamour. When I walked into the Harborview Ballroom, I knew I needed this to be my spot. The room has the “wow” factor without even having been decorated and I knew I could make my vision come to life with the help of the chandeliers and crystal table decor.

HOW MANY GUESTS WERE IN ATTENDANCE ROUGHLY? We had 225 guests attend our reception.

WHAT MENU DID YOU CHOOSE FOR CATERING? We offered several options to our guests including: the Seafood Trio, Vegan and Filet Mignon, (which was amazing!) For dessert, Cakes for Occasions made a delicious marble cake and chocolate bon bons on the side for extra sweet factor. As far as drinks we had our specialty choices included in the open bar and a sangria station!

WHAT WAS THE MOST MAGICAL MOMENT OF THE WEDDING FOR YOU?  The most magical moment was walking through the grand doors and dancing for the first time as husband and wife. We had (indoor appropriate) sparklers go off and I will never forget it.

DID YOU HAVE A WEDDING THEME OR WEDDING COORDINATOR? Myself and my mother were all the coordination we needed! I knew all along I wanted that classic white wedding with a little bit of glamour and contemporary aspects which I believe we really made happen with the help of our awesome vendors, especially Blooms of Boston who ultimately made it come to life.

WHAT STYLE WAS YOUR DRESS? I had two dresses. My first was a strapless ballgown which I was hoping to make a big first impression and make me really feel like a bride walking down the aisle. My second was strapless and fitted with some jewels to glam it up and get ready to dance. I tried to make them compliment each other with the bodice to floor buttons down the back.

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST DANCE SONG CHOICE? I wanted to think a little out-of-the-box and decided to dance to “Kiss Me” by Sixpence None the Richer. This song was upbeat and easy to dance to.

WHO WALKED YOU DOWN THE AISLE?  My dad walked me down the aisle which was also one of the most special moments of the entire day.

WHAT WERE YOUR PLANS FOR A HONEYMOON? We traveled to Hawaii for our honeymoon and stayed for two weeks immediately following the wedding.

HAPPILY EVER AFTER

This traditional white wedding was held with the perfect backdrop of the changing autumn leaves and the gorgeous ocean views. We felt so honored to have Celena and Robbie celebrate their big day with us here at Danversport. A beautiful day, with a beautiful couple made for a perfect wedding from beginning to end.
