Emmeline & Jared,
Married in the Harborview Ballroom & Sun Deck
Married: June 8, 2019
Where are you originally from?
I’m from Waltham, and Jared is from Medford! We lived in Lowell for school for about five years, but recently moved back to Waltham. We’re now looking to buy a house.
What do you do for work?
I am a registered nurse! I started off by earning my bachelors in Biology, but realized I wanted to go into healthcare; so, I pursued my nursing degree when we got engaged!
How did you meet your bride or groom?
Jared and I met back in high school band over ten years ago. Neither of us actually attended the high school that we played for, but I guess it was fate! I played the piano and sang, while Jared played clarinet, guitar, and bass guitar.
What made you choose Danversport, and this venue/room specifically?
As soon as we walked in for our tour of Danversport, we knew we loved it. Everyone was so welcoming, and we loved how upfront all the costs and fees were. It was so easy to envision our wedding here. The Harboview Ballroom and the Waterfront Gazebo are such gorgeous backgrounds for an elegant event. Between those, and the lighthouse, it was a perfect bright, light, and very “New England” summer vibe!

How many guests did you have in attendance, roughly?
We had 160 guests in total!
What did you offer for food/drink/catering?
We chose to do the classic hors d’oeuvres package. My personal favorite was the stuffed mushroom, and Jared’s was the coconut chicken! We also did the deluxe open bar, with a sangria station, which was a big hit too! For dinner, we chose the lobster bisque, strawberry summer salad, prime rib, and walnut crusted chicken. For dessert, we had the Oreo chocolate mousse, a chocolate fountain, an ice cream Sundae buffet, and of course wedding cake! Jared and my favorite snack are nachos, so we tied it into the wedding and had a chicken nacho bar to close out the night!
What was the most magical, moving, a special part of the wedding for you?
The most magical moment of the entire wedding was definitely our first look. Jared and I chose to see each other before the ceremony to calm some nerves. I walked up to him at the lighthouse, tapped his shoulder and he turned around. We both were so overwhelmed we just kind of hugged for a little bit! Jared and I wrote personal vows that we then read to each other. It was so nice to have a moment alone before the whirlwind of the entire wedding started.

Another great moment during the reception was the surprise Syrian Zaffa and Dabke dancers! I had no idea that they were coming, as they were a gift from my family overseas! Between them, and our awesome DJ, they got the party started, and got everyone out of their seats.
Did you have a wedding theme or wedding coordinator?
I didn’t have a wedding planner, but the theme I went for was elegant and bright. The Harborview Ballroom made it easy to envision this theme. I love lilac and lavender, and these colors were beautiful against the blue of the marina and the bright white in the ballroom. During the last month of planning, Michael from Danversport helped us plan every last detail of the day! He made us feel comfortable and confident going into the day.
What type of style was your wedding dress?
I was absolutely obsessed with my wedding dress! It was a beautiful A-line ball gown with blush taffeta and an ivory lace overlay. It had a sweetheart neckline, and lace applique shoulder straps. What made the dress even more special was that my grandfather tailored it to fit me like a glove.

What was the song you danced to for your first dance?
Our first dance was “I’ll Follow You” by Shinedown. Jared and I wanted to do something a little less traditional. I ballroom danced in college, so I choreographed and taught him a simple waltz. This was a complete surprise to our guests, and they loved it! It was a special moment, and gave us something fun to practice and do leading up to the wedding!
Who walked you down the aisle?
My dad walked me down the aisle. It was such a sweet moment for us! Funny enough, my veil became stuck on a chair as we were walking down the aisle, and I fell backwards just a little. We laughed about it, and it helped soften some nerves!
What are/were your plans for your honeymoon?
We went on a minimoon to Myrtle Beach for a few days right after the wedding! In August, we’ll be going on a cruise out of Florida!
We loved everything about Emmeline & Jared’s wedding. They were such a sweet couple to host, and everyone was so happy to see the two tie the knot. The energy in the Harborview Ballroom was high, with many family, friends, and loved ones demonstrating so much love and support. The dancers as a gift from Emmeline’s parents from overseas was a wonderful addition to the wedding, and we’re glad we had the space in the venue to make this moment happen. These beautiful “I Do” moments were so special with this couple. Congratulations to once Emmeline Aroush, now Emmeline Nease, and Jared Nease on their wedding.
