Welcome to this month’s installment of the “I Do” Interviews! This month our wedding series features a loving couple, Latasha & Anthony who said their vows and “I Dos” on a glorious June day at Danversport.
This interview series is meant to give future couples a chance to hear the wonderful details of wedding experiences from those who have recently been there. Our lovely couples have agreed to share their stories so others can learn about everything from their one-of-a-kind wedding, to their incredible partner, at a picture-perfect venue.
Latasha and Anthony are high school sweethearts who have remained in love for all of these years since they first met as teenagers. They chose Danversport for both their ceremony and reception. They began their day exchanging vows under the gazebo under a perfectly beautiful blue sky along the waterfront. After saying their “I Dos” they moved the party inside to the Harborview Ballroom under the grand chandelier, looking out the floor to ceiling windows on the harbor.
Latasha & Anthony
Where are you originally from?
We are both originally from NYC, but my husband moved to Massachusetts a few years ago and I later came to join him here.
What do you do for work? I work for an airline.
How did you meet your bride or groom? We are high school sweethearts!
What made you choose Danversport, and this venue/room specifically?
We originally visited four venues in April 2019. Danversport was the only one that checked all our boxes. Danversport was the total package. The combination of beauty and spacing ability for both a ceremony and reception at the best price point out of all the venues made Danversport the obvious choice.
Danversport was simply the best deal, especially with straight forward pricing with no surprises. Often, couples end up writing checks and paying extra the day of or after the wedding. I didn’t want that. With Danversport it wasn’t the case. You simply can’t beat the value and quality of everything Danversport offers.
How many guests did you have in attendance roughly?
We had 140 guests in attendance.
What did you offer for food/drink catering?
We offered the classic hors d’oeuvres, open bar, stabler chicken, prime rib, and pasta primavera as our vegetarian option, which was a total hit with our guests! The two things people remember from weddings, include the food and the reception. We received so many compliments for Danversport’s food. Quite a few guests said it’s some of the best wedding food they’ve ever had. And I must agree. My husband and I had the prime rib and chicken. They were moist and delicious.

What was the most magical, moving or special part of the wedding for you?
There were so many magical moments. The moments that stand out the most were walking down the aisle and marveling at the sheer beauty of my husband and bridal party standing there with the gazebo, landscape, water, & boats behind them. It was like something out of a Disney movie.
We experienced the same magical moment when we walked into the Harborview Ballroom at the reception, and were seated at our sweetheart table. It was just absolutely stunning. When I visited Danversport for the first time in the Spring of 2019, I tried to imagine what it would all look like on the day of the wedding and Danversport staff exceeded my expectations and dreams. It reminded me of the first time I went to Disney world as a kid, walking toward Cinderella’s castle, except this time I felt like the Princess. The ceremony and reception areas were just gorgeous.
The other special aspect of the entire day was simply the expertise and professionalism of the staff. Many friends and relatives warned me that the bride and groom never get to eat anything because it’s so hectic with running around; that they wish they had hired a planner or coordinator so they would have enjoyed more of their special day.
The Danversport staff made sure that wasn’t the case. Especially my wedding day coordinator, Nancy. She sweetly reminded us to sit and enjoy our food. And very skillfully redirected people who approached while we were eating, without being rude or even directly telling anyone to give us a few minutes. They simply enthusiastically pointed guests who approached toward the bar, recommending drinks, to the photo booth, asking if they had signed the guestbook yet, or simply asking if they were enjoying themselves.
As a result, my husband and I were able to have our appetizers, full entrees, and full slices of our wedding and groom’s cake. And yes, we were still able to run around and talk to all our guests and take a million pictures. That’s how we can personally affirm the food was great.
If there were any issues, we know of none; the staff handled everything perfectly. No one asked us questions on what to do until the end of the event when we were simply asked what we wanted to take home. And all leftover things were neatly packaged and placed on table; easy to sort and just pick up. I can’t thank the Danversport staff enough. Because of the staff we were able to thoroughly enjoy every aspect of our day, and get moments when it was just the two of us at our table and take it all in, with no stress or worries. I’m so grateful for that.
Did you have a wedding theme?
My wedding theme was simple elegance with Chinese double happiness symbols to represent my husband’s family’s culture. The primary colors were lilac and navy with silver accents.
What type of style was your dress?
My dress was a sweetheart mermaid dress with ombré lace overlay pattern from top to bottom. It was designed by Essense of Australia.
What was the song you danced to for your first dance?
We danced to “Still the One” by Shania Twain. The lyrics are perfect for high school sweethearts who beat the odds, stayed together, and are still madly in love from age 15 to our 30s.
Who walked you down the aisle?
My older brother walked me down the aisle in place of our father who passed away when I was a child.
What are/were your plans for your honeymoon?
We plan to visit Athens and some of the Greek islands for our honeymoon.
Happily Ever After
