Welcome to this month’s installment of the “I Do” Interviews! This month our wedding series features a loving couple, Megan and Ryan, who said their vows and “I Dos” on a beautiful June day at Danversport.
This interview series is meant to give future couples a chance to hear the wonderful details of wedding experiences from those who have recently been there. Our lovely couples have agreed to share their stories so others can learn about everything from their one-of-a-kind wedding, to their incredible partner, at a picture-perfect venue.
Megan and Ryan chose Danversport for both their ceremony and reception. They began their big day along the scenic waterfront under the gazebo, where they exchanged their wedding vows while surrounded by family and friends. After they said their “I Dos,” they moved the reception and celebration to the Harborview Ballroom under the twinkling lights of the grand chandelier.
Megan & Ryan
Where are you originally from?
I am originally from Swampscott, Massachusetts and Ryan is from Ipswich. We both had actually never been to Danversport before we toured for the wedding.
What do you do for work?
I work in a pediatric ICU in Boston as a registered nurse. I recently became an NP as well. Ryan works as an engineer in Salisbury.
How did you meet your bride or groom?
Ryan and I met in college. We met on his 21st birthday when his friend invited my friends and I out for dinner- he says it was his best birthday gift ever!
What made you choose Danversport, and this venue/room specifically?
Ryan and I were so impressed by the professionalism of the staff and how experienced the staff was. We appreciated all that was included in the packages. We are some of the first of our friends to be married and we didn’t know where to start on a lot of things, Danversport made it easy. We even got a last minute upgrade on our room!
How many guests did you have in attendance roughly?
We had roughly 110 people at our wedding.
What did you offer for food/drink catering?
The food and drinks were amazing! We especially loved the deluxe appetizers and the Italian Wedding Soup. Ron and the bar manager worked with us to help get Ryan his dream whiskey bar and me my spritz bar! I loved that they pulled us aside with our family and bridal party right after the ceremony so we could have apps and drinks all together without the crowd.
What was the most magical, moving or special part of the wedding for you?
Our first and last dance and my dance with my father were the most magical moments for us.
Did you have a wedding theme? We wanted classic “Kennedy” vibes for our wedding, with modern, fun touches.
What type of style was your dress? I had a form fitting gown with a high neckline and long train. I love how Mark Davidson Photography was able to capture the beauty of it.
What was the song you danced to for your first dance?
We danced to Waiting on a Sunny Day by Bruce Springsteen. This was the song that was playing when Ryan first told me he loved me.
Who walked you down the aisle?
My father walked me down the aisle. This was very special because we are so close. My mother passed away when I was six, so my father and I have a special bond.
What are/were your plans for your honeymoon?
We went up to our favorite place in New Hampshire for the weekend, and have plans to tour the Amalfi Coast in September.
Happily Ever After
Megan and Ryan have a full and wonderful life ahead of them as professionals working in the Greater Boston area. We are so happy they chose Danversport to plan their “Kennedy-esque” style wedding, complete with a special whisky bar for the groom. We wish you much happiness in the future and we were so happy to celebrate this major milestone with you.
