Welcome to this month’s installment of the “I Do” Interviews! This month, our wedding series features a stunning couple, Marina and Malaki, who said their vows on a perfect summer day in June 2025. They chose to celebrate their ceremony at the pergola and reception with us in the Terrace Ballroom, surrounded by 101 family members and friends, who all shared in their joy.
This interview series is designed to allow future couples to hear about the wonderful details of wedding experiences from those who have recently been through them. Our lovely couples have agreed to share their stories, allowing others to learn about their one-of-a-kind wedding and the planning process.
Responses have been edited for length and clarity.

Where are you originally from?
I am from Worcester, MA, and my husband is from Putnam, CT.
What do you do for work?
I am a human resource business partner, and my husband is a machinist.
How did you meet your bride or groom?
We used to work together at the same company.
What made you choose Danversport, and this venue/room specifically?
I always dreamed of a waterfront wedding. From the moment we set foot in Danversport, we just knew this was where we wanted our wedding to be. There was no looking back or looking around; my heart was settled.
How many guests did you have in attendance roughly?
We had 101 friends and family at our wedding.
What did you offer for food/drink catering?
Our guests enjoyed a choice of filet mignon or the cider-glazed chicken, which was my favorite choice. We enjoyed an excellent charcuterie selection for our cocktail hour with wedding cake, chocolate bonbons and assorted fresh fruit for dessert. We also had an open bar with the best rum and Coke drinks.

What was the most magical, moving, or special part of the wedding for you?
One of the best moments was doing my first look with my now husband and our daughter. Walking down to him to see me for the first time in my dress was just magical. The smiles on his face and our daughter’s were just incredible. I couldn’t have envisioned a better moment.
What was the song you danced to for your first dance?
Our first dance was to Kane Brown’s song, “Thank God.”
What style was your dress?
I wore a trumpet-style dress with the most elegant poof on the bottom, which couldn’t have been more perfect.
Did you have a wedding theme?
We didn’t have a set theme, but we went with a black and white, elegant look with touches of purple throughout our wedding party and flowers.
Who walked you down the aisle?
My parents, along with my daughter, walked me down the aisle.
What are/were your plans for your honeymoon?
Two days after our wedding, we left to go on our honeymoon in Mexico.
