The “I Do” Interview: Meet Lindsay & Brad

Welcome to this month’s installment of the “I Do” Interviews! This month our wedding series features a lovely couple, Lindsay and Brad, who said their vows on a wonderful July day last year. They chose to celebrate their reception with us in the Harborview Ballroom with their 175 family members and friends who all shared in their joy.

This interview series is meant to give future couples a chance to hear the wonderful details of wedding experiences from those who have recently been there. Our lovely couples have agreed to share their stories so others can learn everything about their one-of-a-kind wedding and the planning process.

Responses have been edited for length and clarity.

Wedding Date – Friday, July 29, 2022

Event Space – The Harborview Ballroom.

Where are you originally from?

I am originally from Methuen, MA and Brad is originally from Salem, NH. We live in Plaistow, NH with our golden retriever, Luca.

What do you do for work?

I am an elementary school teacher and Brad is a mechanical engineer.

How did you meet your bride or groom?

In November of 2017, I was invited to a party through mutual friends where Brad was going to be, and we hit it off right away. After some initial text messages, we met for drinks at the Barking Dog in Haverhill and the rest is history.

What made you choose Danversport, and this venue/room specifically?

We fell in love with Danversport the moment we walked in. The beautiful high ceilings and chandeliers made me feel like I was in a fairytale. The staff were extremely warm and welcoming and made us feel comfortable right away. We couldn’t see ourselves getting married anywhere else!

How many guests did you have in attendance roughly?

We had approximately 175 friends and family members on our wedding day.

What did you offer for food/drink catering?

To start, we offered penne pasta and strawberry Caesar salad. For the main course, our guests could choose between the  prime rib of beef served with potatoes and seasonal vegetables, or the seafood trio served with potatoes and seasonal vegetables. For dessert, we offered an Oreo mousse and vanilla wedding cake through their local vendor. Our signature drink was “The Luca.” This was an espresso martini, and named after our puppy, Luca.

What was the most magical, moving, or special part of the wedding for you?

The most magical and special parts of our wedding were the unique and personal moments we experienced. From our first look to special anniversary dances that featured Lindsay’s grandparents (who’ve been married for 67 years) to moving speeches and the most amazing time on the dance floor. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day.

Did you have a wedding theme?

Our theme was a traditional, classic elegant affair.

What was the song you danced to for your first dance?

We danced to “Joy of My Life” by Chris Stapleton.

What style was your dress?

My dress was a Dove Satin A-line gown with off-the-shoulder straps and a plunging neckline from Madeleine’s Daughter in Portsmouth, NH.

Who walked you down the aisle?

My dad walked me down the aisle.

What are/were your plans for your honeymoon?

We left for our two-week honeymoon to Greece a few days after our wedding. We traveled to Athens, Santorini, Naxos, and Milos. It was an absolute dream and the epitome of adventure, romance, and beauty. A true honeymoon through and through!
