Welcome to this month’s installment of the “I Do” Interviews! This month our wedding series features a beautiful, Leanne and Connor, who said their vows on a crisp fall day in September of last year. They chose to celebrate their ceremony on The Lawn and reception with us in the Harborview Ballroom with their 200 family members and friends who all shared in their joy.
This interview series is meant to give future couples a chance to hear the wonderful details of wedding experiences from those who have recently been there. Our lovely couples have agreed to share their stories so others can learn everything about their one-of-a-kind wedding and the planning process.
Responses have been edited for length and clarity.
Leanne & Connor
Wedding Date – September 2023
Event Space – We had our ceremony on the Lawn outdoors and then used the Harborview Ballroom for our reception.
Where are you originally from?
I am from Revere, MA and Connor is from Londonderry, NH. We now live in Beverly, MA.
What do you do for work?
I am a recruiter and Connor works in marketing.
How did you meet your bride or groom?
Connor and I met during our junior year at Endicott College. We met in the dining hall over a bowl of cereal!
What made you choose Danversport, and this venue/room specifically?
Danversport felt like the best of both worlds to us. We loved the idea of getting married outside on the water and then walking upstairs to the elegant Harborview Ballroom for the reception. We both attended and hosted numerous events at Danversport in the past and knew the level of service, the delicious food, and their attention to detail were unmatched.
Danversport made sure that our wedding day ran perfectly and we were able to enjoy the day completely stress-free. We are so happy that we chose to get married at Danversport!
How many guests did you have in attendance roughly?
We had approximately 200 of our family and friends at our wedding reception and ceremony.
What did you offer for food/drink catering?
After the incredible food tasting, we could not stop ourselves from adding on more and more passed appetizers to our menu, because they were just so good!
For the main course, our guests were offered either the braised short ribs or Atlantic salmon. We opted for the dessert bar and it was a complete “wow” factor. Our family and friends are still talking about the food months later!
Our signature drink was a limoncello spritz that was recommended by our bartender and we named it after our dog Grizzly. Everyone loved it!
What was the most magical, moving, or special part of the wedding for you?
My parents surprised us by having my cousin, MDOT, write and perform a song about our love story. It was such a fun surprise!
Our DJ played a few Italian songs during dinner that had all of our guests up and dancing (waving their napkins around) before the dance floor even opened. My aunt Diane also officiated our wedding, which was so special to us! We could go on and on. Every minute of the day was a dream!
What was the song you danced to for your first dance?
We danced to “Breathe” by Faith Hill. We had cold sparklers set off during the chorus!
What style was your dress?
I wore an Allure bridal gown. The style was a fit and flare with a long train and the straps had pearl detailing.
Did you have a wedding theme?
We loved incorporating large bright floral arrangements into the classic and clean ballroom space.
Who walked you down the aisle?
My Dad walked me down the aisle. We had a harp player perform “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran as we entered.
What are/were your plans for your honeymoon?
For our honeymoon, we headed to St. Lucia one week after our wedding. We had the opportunity to horseback ride on the beach, drive ATVs, jet ski, and so much more. It was a trip we will never forget!
Happily Ever After
Congratulations to Connor and Leanne as they begin their life’s journey together. We are so happy that we were able to be a part of your special day. We wish them much happiness as they begin their life together!
