The “I Do” Interview: Meet Kayleigh & Bridget

Welcome to this month’s installment of the “I Do” Interviews! This month our wedding series features a lovely couple, Kayleigh and Bridget, who said their vows on a crisp fall day in November of last year. They chose to celebrate both their ceremony and reception with us starting at the beautiful outdoor pergola and moving indoors to the Lighthouse Ballroom with their 60 family members and friends who all shared in their joy.

This interview series is meant to give future couples a chance to hear the wonderful details of wedding experiences from those who have recently been there. Our lovely couples have agreed to share their stories so others can learn everything about their one-of-a-kind wedding and the planning process.

Responses have been edited for length and clarity.

Kayleigh & Bridget

Wedding Date – November 12, 2022

Event Space – Our ceremony was outdoors at the pergola next to Lighthouse Point and our reception was in the Lighthouse Room and Courtyard. It was wonderful!

Where are you originally from?

We are both from the Greater Boston area! Kayleigh actually grew up in Danvers, Massachusetts, while also spending time in Atlanta, Georgia.

What do you do for work?

I am a cartographer (map maker), and Kayleigh is an ICU nurse.

How did you meet your bride or groom?

We met on the dating app Hinge if you can believe it! At the time, we were living in separate cities in Virginia, but connected, and after one 3.5-hour virtual Covid date, we were off and running.

What made you choose Danversport, and this venue/room specifically?

Both of us grew up in Massachusetts, so it was important to have the wedding somewhere that made travel for our families easier. Kayleigh grew up in Danvers and frequented the Danversport dining room with her family and grandparents.

It felt like we got so much in the wedding package, and the staff was so accommodating and kind. Since we live out of state in the DC area now, Lauren and the rest of the event coordinators were so incredible in guiding us from afar.

The Lighthouse Point room was a perfect venue for us! It allowed us to have the ceremony and reception all in one place, and it was so beautiful! The pergola was stunning, and the aesthetic of the Lighthouse Point room was perfect.

How many guests did you have in attendance roughly?

We had 60 friends and family members on our wedding day.

What did you offer for food/drink catering?

We offered the Tuscan Chicken and the Short Rib – which was incredible. Actually, all of the food was incredible. The three-tiered cake we had (Lemon, Red Velvet, and Funfetti) was so good that one of our friends wanted to know where it came from and are having it at their wedding this coming June.

All of our guests raved about the food.

What was the most magical, moving, or special part of the wedding for you?

Our first look was incredible, but walking to each other at the pergola at sunset was so magical. We truly could not have scripted it better if we tried.

What was the song you danced to for your first dance?

We danced to a cover of Blink-182’s “First Date” by Taylor Acorn.

What style was your dress?

My dress was “ethereal-vintage” from the BHLDEN Collection from Anthropologie and Kayleigh’s was a ballgown-style gown from David’s Bridal. Neither of us saw the other’s gown until our first look!

Who walked you down the aisle?

My father walked me down the aisle, and Kayleigh had her mom walk halfway before her grandmother walked her to the altar.

What are/were your plans for your honeymoon?

We will be going to a resort in the Dominican Republic!
