The “I Do” Interview: Meet Emily & Michael

Welcome to this month’s installment of the “I Do” Interviews! This month our wedding series features a beautiful couple, Emily and Michael, who said their vows on a spectacular Saturday in June of this year. They chose to celebrate both their ceremony and reception with both us and their 250 family members and friends who all shared in their joy.

This interview series is meant to give future couples a chance to hear the wonderful details of wedding experiences from those who have recently been there. Our lovely couples have agreed to share their stories so others can learn everything about their one-of-a-kind wedding and the planning process.

Responses have been edited for length and clarity.

What made you choose Danversport, and this venue/room specifically?

Being from the North Shore, I have been to Danversport for several different events over the years. I knew I wanted a local place that was reliable and beautiful.

How many guests did you have in attendance roughly?

We had approximately 250 friends and family members on our wedding day.

What did you offer for food/drink catering?

We offered the deluxe appetizer package and open bar. We chose a sangria station and a coffee station as well.

For meals, we began with an appetizer of pasta, strawberry summer salad, and a choice of prime rib or cranberry walnut stuffed chicken. Dessert was the amazing cheesecake and wedding cake. Guests could not stop talking about how good the prime rib was and how the cheesecake was the best they ever had!

What was the most magical, moving, or special part of the wedding for you?

I did something a little different by having “Friends of Honor.” They are my 10 best friends.

On the day of the wedding, I told them to come to Danversport about an hour before the ceremony to do my “first look.” Little did they know, I surprised them with a flower and the wedding program where their names were listed as “Friends of Honor.” I asked them to get their dates, walk down the aisle, and be part of my wedding. They had special seating in the first row. Not a dry eye in the place!

Did you have a wedding theme?

While we didn’t have a theme we kept the colors simple with a lot of white and pale colors.

What type of style was your dress?

I chose a ball gown for my dress.

What was the song you danced to for your first dance?

We played Tennessee Whiskey for our first song.

Who walked you down the aisle?

My dad walked me down the aisle.

What are/were your plans for your honeymoon?

We got married in June and are going in September to Sandals Emerald Bay in the Bahamas.

Happily Ever After

Emily and Mike celebrated a beautiful ceremony and reception with Danversport and even had a few surprises up their sleeves for friends and family. They are such a wonderful couple to have shared their special day with us. We wish them much love in the future and years of happiness to come.
