Welcome to this month’s installment of the “I Do” Interviews! This month our wedding series features a lovely couple, Emily and Brendon, who said their vows on a warm summer day in 2024. They chose to celebrate their ceremony at the Tabernacle Congregational Church in Salem and then held their reception in the Harborview Ballroom with their 200 family members and friends who all shared in their joy.
This interview series is meant to give future couples a chance to hear the wonderful details of wedding experiences from those who have recently been there. Our lovely couples have agreed to share their stories so others can learn everything about their one-of-a-kind wedding and the planning process.
Responses have been edited for length and clarity.

Emily & Brendon
Wedding Date – August 2024
Event Space – We held our ceremony at the Tabernacle Congregational Church in Salem and then used the stunning Harborview Ballroom for our reception.
Where are you originally from?
We are from the Boston and Connecticut areas.
What do you do for work?
We are in the fields of Finance and Learning & Development.
How did you meet your bride or groom?
We met during our freshman year of college as we were in the same dorm.
What made you choose Danversport, and this venue/room specifically?
When we walked the Danversport property everything was so beautiful and the ballroom was amazing with that gorgeous chandelier! The staff were friendly, very communicative and detail-oriented when I emailed and visited. We had family friends who had gotten married there 20 years prior (I was a flower girl in that wedding) and my parents had loved the venue ever since then.
How many guests did you have in attendance roughly?
We had approximately 200 of our family and friends at our wedding reception and ceremony.
What did you offer for food/drink catering?
The food was amazing! We offered the Chilean Sea Bass and the Short Rib options. We got lots of compliments on both dishes.
What was the most magical, moving, or special part of the wedding for you?
Saying our vows will always be special to me, but dancing the night away in the ballroom with our amazing band truly was so much fun!
What was the song you danced to for your first dance?
We danced to “I Am Yours” by Andy Grammar for our first dance.
What style was your dress?
I wore a tulle A-line dress.
Who walked you down the aisle?
My Dad walked me down the aisle.
What are/were your plans for your honeymoon?
For our honeymoon, we headed to Europe!
Happily Ever After
Congratulations to Emily and Brendon on the beginning of their life journey together. We are so thrilled we could be a part of your special day and wish them much happiness!
