The “I Do” Interview: Meet Cassidy & Matthew

Welcome to this month’s installment of the “I Do” Interviews! This month our wedding series features a lovely couple, Cassidy and Matthew, who said their vows under the gazebo at Danversport on a crisp autumn day in November of last year. They chose to celebrate their reception with us in the stunning Harborview Ballroom with their 130 family members and friends who all shared in their joy.

This interview series is meant to give future couples a chance to hear the wonderful details of wedding experiences from those who have recently been there. Our lovely couples have agreed to share their stories so others can learn everything about their one-of-a-kind wedding and the planning process.

Responses have been edited for length and clarity.

Cassidy & Matthew

Wedding Date – November 4, 2022

Event Space – Our ceremony was at the gazebo at Danversport and our reception was in the Harborside Ballroom.

Where are you originally from?

Both Matthew and I are originally from Bedford, New Hampshire.

What do you do for work?

I work in sales for a hotel management company and Matt works in marketing for a medical device company.

How did you meet your bride or groom?

We actually went to the same high school but we have a little age gap so we didn’t know each other and ended up reconnecting a few years after we both graduated.

What made you choose Danversport, and this venue/room specifically?

We loved Danversport from the moment we saw it!

The Harborview Ballroom has the most amazing high ceilings, huge windows, and stunning chandeliers. Also, the packages were so up-front and included so many different things with no hidden costs that it really was so simple for us to plan our wedding. Our guests raved about the patio space – we were so lucky to have a beautiful day in November.

How many guests did you have in attendance roughly?

We had approximately 130 friends and family members on our wedding day.

What did you offer for food/drink catering?

We chose the Short Rib & Tuscan Chicken. Our guests raved about the food and the staff was top-notch! Everything was served warm and so fast. One of the biggest compliments we have heard from our guests is for the cake! It was gorgeous and delicious.

What was the most magical, moving, or special part of the wedding for you?

We did a private first look before the ceremony where we read our own vows. I think it really helped to shake off some nerves prior to the big event, and we could really be ourselves when it was just the two of us without an audience.

Did you have a wedding theme?

Not really! I tried to stick with classic colors – black, white, and greenery tied in the gold that is so prominent in the ballroom.

What was the song you danced to for your first dance?

Our first dance was to You Are in Love by Taylor Swift

What style was your dress?

It was a ballgown! Totally not what I was expecting but I loved it when I put it on. It was heavy but felt so comfortable.

Who walked you down the aisle?

My dad walked me down the aisle. He is simply the best!

What are/were your plans for your honeymoon?

We spent a few days after the wedding at the Cliff House in Maine which was stunning, and then we went to Portland, Maine where we ate lots of good food and drank lots of good beer.

Happily Ever After

Congratulations to Cassidy and Matthew. This beautiful couple shared a beautiful fall day with family and friends along the waterfront for both their ceremony and reception. We loved sharing in the celebration of their love. We wish this lovely couple a lifetime of happiness together.
