The “I Do” Interview: Meet Andrea & Hugh

Welcome to this month’s installment of the “I Do” Interviews! This month, our wedding series features Andrea and Hugh, who said their vows in October 2025. They chose the Danversport Lawn for their ceremony and Harborview Ballroom for their reception.

This interview series is designed to give future couples the opportunity to hear firsthand details about recent wedding experiences from those who have been there. Our lovely couples have agreed to share their stories so others can learn everything about their one-of-a-kind wedding and the planning process.

Responses have been edited for length and clarity.

When did you get married?

October 2025

How did you meet?

Hugh and I met on the very first day of freshman year of college orientation. We happened to live in the same dorm building, so we kept running into each other. What started as a simple friendship slowly grew into something more, and before we knew it, eight years later, we were getting married and buying a home together.

Why Danversport?

We chose Danversport because it truly felt like us. The venue is absolutely stunning. Every corner is picture-perfect, and the wedding package was so inclusive compared to others in the area, which made the whole planning process feel that much easier.

But what really made it special is the history we both have there. Growing up, we each celebrated so many milestones at Danversport (proms, banquets, holidays), so choosing it for our wedding felt like such a full-circle moment. It just felt right to start this next chapter in a place that’s already been part of so many meaningful memories.

Describe your wedding in 10 words or fewer!

Best day of our lives—the beginning of our forever.

Tell us the most memorable moment of the day.

The most memorable moment of the day was walking down the aisle surrounded by all of our loved ones, without a worry in the world. We felt timeless and completely present in the moment.

What’s a standout thing our team at Danversport did during your wedding day that you’ll never forget?

One standout moment with the staff happened just before the ceremony. While I was tucked away in a back hallway with Lauren, our day-of coordinator, my veil felt loose. Without hesitation, she sent another staff member upstairs to grab extra hairpins and carefully redid it right before I walked down the aisle. It was such a small but meaningful moment that made me feel totally supported.

What about Danversport wow-ed your guests the most?

Our guests were absolutely wowed by the food and service at Danversport. People are still talking about their meals six months later.

What menu items or cocktails were crowd favorites?

Crowd favorites included the welcome Autumn Sangria during cocktail hour, the Short Rib, and the Sea Bass for main entrees.

Did you have a theme, color palette, or design inspiration for your wedding day?

Our color palette was timeless black and white with hints of gold and green.

Did you do a first look, or wait for the aisle?

We did a first look at our hotel.

What’s one piece of advice you’d share with couples planning their wedding at Danversport?

If you’re planning your wedding at Danversport, trust the process and lean on their team. They truly know what they’re doing. Take advantage of how inclusive everything is, and try to be present in each moment of the day; it goes by so quickly, and they’ll make sure everything behind the scenes runs seamlessly.

Looking back, what’s the one thing you’re glad you did on your wedding day?

I am so glad we did a first look, which allowed us to take most of our photos before the ceremony so we could be at the cocktail hour with our guests.

Happily Ever After

Congratulations to Hugh and Andrea as you begin your married life together! We are thrilled to have been a part of your special day and traditions. We wish you much happiness in the years ahead.
