The “I Do” Interview: Meet Andrea & Brian

Welcome to this month’s installment of the “I Do” Interviews! This month our wedding series features a lovely couple, Andrea and Brian, who said their vows on a lovely summer day in August 2022. They chose to celebrate both their ceremony and reception with both us and 135 family members and friends who all shared in their joy.

This interview series is meant to give future couples a chance to hear the wonderful details of wedding experiences from those who have recently been there. Our lovely couples have agreed to share their stories so others can learn everything about their one-of-a-kind wedding and the planning process.

Responses have been edited for length and clarity.

What made you choose Danversport, and this venue/room specifically?

A friend mentioned Danversport when we were venue hunting and we happened to drive by and stop in one day. We immediately fell in love with the beautiful property, inside and out.

The Harborview Ballroom has the most amazing chandelier and high ceilings and the outdoor ceremony space and cocktail hour balcony have a fun coastal vibe. When we walked inside, the staff was welcoming and informative and dropped everything to show us around. It was truly love at first sight!

How many guests did you have in attendance roughly?

We had approximately 135 friends and family members on our wedding day.

What did you offer for food/drink catering?

Our guests were greeted with a sangria bar for the cocktail hour and we had a charcuterie display and passed hors d’oeuvres.

For cocktails, we offered two signature drinks: a Paloma and a bee’s knees. At dinner, we had a strawberry salad and pasta to start, and then guests had a choice between prime rib, bone-in chicken, or a vegetarian edamame dumpling/quinoa meal. As our dessert, we had a wedding cake with layers of lemon and vanilla cake. To round out the evening, we had an espresso bar and two late-night snacks: sliders and churros.

What was the most magical, moving, or special part of the wedding for you?

The entire day was a complete dream. I loved walking down the aisle with my Dad and seeing Brian for the first time waiting at the end of the aisle. I loved the first dance with Brian and dancing with all of our guests.

Did you have a wedding theme?

We chose a blue/nautical theme to go with the beautiful marina!

What type of style was your dress?

My dress was a Cristina Wu halter sheath wedding dress with a lot of lace and beading and an open lacey back with lace cutouts on the sides.

What was the song you danced to for your first dance?

Our first dance was Can’t Help Falling in Love by Elvis Presley.

Who walked you down the aisle?

My dad walked me down the aisle in an area called the Lawn with a beautiful circle arch adorning the ceremony location.

What are/were your plans for your honeymoon?

We stayed at Royal Davui resort in Fiji for two weeks right after the wedding!

Happily Ever After

Andrea and Brian first met and fell in love in college and celebrated their love with an exchange of vows and  “I Dos”’ at Danversport in August. They are such a wonderful couple to have shared their special day with us. We wish them much love in the future and years of happiness to come.
