Welcome to this month’s installment of the “I Do” Interviews! This month, our wedding series features a stunning couple, Allison and Austin, who said their vows on a perfect spring day in May 2025. They chose to celebrate their ceremony at the gazebo and reception with us in the Harborview Ballroom with their 145 family members and friends, who all shared in their joy.
This interview series is meant to give future couples a chance to hear the wonderful details of wedding experiences from those who have recently been there. Our lovely couples have agreed to share their stories so others can learn everything about their one-of-a-kind wedding and the planning process.
Responses have been edited for length and clarity.
Allison and Austin
Wedding Date – May 2025
Event Space – Our ceremony was held at the gazebo overlooking the water and our reception was in the Harborview Ballroom.
Where are you originally from?
AJ is originally from Walpole, MA, and has been living in Boston since graduating. I am a travel nurse originally from Raleigh, NC. One of my contracts brought me to Boston.
What do you do for work?
I am a nurse at Boston Children’s Hospital, and AJ works in marketing at a tech company in Cambridge.
How did you meet your bride or groom?
We met on Hinge.
What made you choose Danversport, and this venue/room specifically?
We fell in love with Danversport even when we toured it for the first time on a rainy day in the winter. We appreciated the options available, and the gazebo’s location right on the water was a huge selling point for me, as I had always wanted to be married by the water.
The ballroom was grand and could accommodate all our friends and family traveling from all over the country. We also appreciated how Danversport had no logistical issues and displayed transparency in its pricing and process, helping us feel assured during our planning.
How many guests did you have in attendance roughly?
We had 145 friends and family at our wedding.
What did you offer for food/drink catering?
We began our reception with the Signature bar with a Conundrum red wine upgrade. We offered appetizers including chicken, spanakopita and bacon-wrapped scallops. Our salad course was the Strawberry Salad. For our main dishes, we offered the Prime Rib and Herb-Roasted Chicken. We provided a four-tier cake with vanilla, marble, chocolate, and red velvet cheesecake for dessert.
What was the most magical, moving, or special part of the wedding for you?
The rain cleared just in time for our ceremony, and the Danversport team, particularly our exceptional coordinator Lauren Kane, cleaned up the venue for first look pictures and a comfortable ceremony as the clouds parted behind the gazebo for us.
What was the song you danced to for your first dance?
Our first dance was “Brown Eyed Girl” by Van Morrison.
What style was your dress?
My dress was Martina Liana from Vows. I was going for a classic, timeless, elegant design.

Did you have a wedding theme?
We tried to capture a “coastal evening” theme. My bridesmaids were in sage green dresses and the men were in tuxes. The ballroom was filled with pale pink and white floral arrangements.
Who walked you down the aisle?
My father, Craig Jonkers, walked me down the aisle.
What are/were your plans for your honeymoon?
We spent three nights on a mini-moon in Aruba right after the wedding. Later this summer, we’ll travel to Africa for two weeks to go on safari, explore Cape Town, and visit Victoria Falls!
Happily Ever After
Congratulations to Allison and Austin as you begin your married life together! We are so happy that we were able to be a part of your special day. We wish you much happiness in the years ahead.
