“I Do!” Interview: Meet Our August Bride Lisa

Welcome to the latest installment of the “I Do” Interviews! This month our series features Lisa and John, a wonderful couple who held their micro wedding under our gazebo in late July. Their original plans may not have panned out due to the global health crisis, but we were excited to help plan a beautiful, intimate wedding in just a short amount of time so they could begin their married life this summer.

This bridal interview series is meant to give future brides a chance to hear the wonderful details of bridal experiences from those who have recently been there. Our beautiful brides have agreed to share their stories so others can hear about everything from their one-of-a-kind wedding, to their incredible partner, at a picture-perfect venue.

Wedding Date: July 25, 2020

EVENT SPACE USED: We had the ceremony at the stunning gazebo followed by a dinner under the tent.

WHERE ARE YOU ORIGINALLY FROM? Lisa is from Sharon, MA and John is from Newburyport, MA

WHAT DO YOU DO FOR WORK? Lisa is a Planning Consultant at Fidelity Investments and John is an Account Executive at Sage Intacct.

HOW DID YOU MEET YOUR PARTNER? We met in the North End in Boston at the Landing. The first night we met, we had an incredible time talking for hours and knew right away we wanted to continue seeing each other.

WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE DANVERSPORT AND THE BALLROOM SPECIFICALLY? After COVID-19 postponed our original Maine wedding, we knew we wanted to keep our original date and get married close to home with our immediate families. We had been to Danversport before listening to live music and knew how beautiful it was. Tanya was beyond helpful in creating a new wedding for us in a matter of weeks. We finalized all the details seamlessly and had a great day.

HOW MANY GUESTS WERE IN ATTENDANCE ROUGHLY? We had 15 people attend.

WHAT MENU DID YOU CHOOSE FOR CATERING? We had individually plated cheese plates, shrimp shooters, stuffed mushrooms and bacon-wrapped scallops for appetizers. We chose the caprese salads to start and then the choice of prime rib or seafood trio. Everything was delicious. For dessert, we brought in a cake and had the ice cream parfaits as well.

WHAT WAS THE MOST MAGICAL MOMENT OF THE WEDDING FOR YOU? Our “first look” by the water was the most memorable moment. Walking up to my husband with his back turned and tapping him to see me for the first time in my dress is something I will never forget. We wrote our own vows to each other and shared them at that time. It was very intimate and special.

WHAT STYLE WAS YOUR DRESS? I had a mermaid Stella York strapless gown.

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST DANCE SONG CHOICE? “Don’t Know Much” by Linda Ronstadt and Aaron Neville.

WHO WALKED YOU DOWN THE AISLE? Both of my parents walked me down the aisle.

WHAT WERE YOUR PLANS FOR A HONEYMOON?  We were planning on going to Hawaii but haven’t been able to due to COVID. We are hoping to go next year when things are safer.

Happily Ever After – This couple proved that when life throws you a curveball, you don’t have to let it knock you out of the game. You get up and try again. Even though they had to delay their honeymoon and could not celebrate with all of their friends and family, they were able to have a beautiful ceremony and reception with their closest relatives and friends in an amazing picturesque location. Cheers to the bride and groom. May you enjoy a long and happy life together!
